The Top 6 Ways To Start A Paleo Diet

Interested in an easy transition from SAD into Paleo eating?

Stand up from the desk.

Before you jump on the Paleo wagon, know that there is a reason you found yourself stuck down the Standard American Diet road:

Our synapses are wired to be fueled by foods that nourish. With the modern-day workloads and constant stress drip, it has become difficult for most of us to eat from hunger rather than stress.

Problem: Recognizing that our emotionally-consumed food triggers habitual patterns that can push the subconscious mind towards sabotage.

Discipline is truly the only freedom in life. No brownie, pizza or candy is ever going to taste as empowered and liberating as healthy feels.

Solution: The structure, planning, and discipline that comes with our actions and goals.

Here are the top 6 ways to implement paleo:

1. Know yourself

What foods or situations make you feel defeated? Your biology and psychology are no match for your hormones and primal desires. Willpower will always lose. Remove these foods, situations, and people from your life that make you feel defeated and start winning again.

2. Vote for your health with your fork

You are the only one who decides what goes in your mouth. No one force feeds you. If you really don't believe in GMO's or abusing your body with nutrient-void, immune system disrupting foods then don't buy them. You can only control yourself, so start doing it today and purchase only what foods truly serve you and your health goals.

3. Be okay with not being perfect

There will be times that you make mistakes as you are not a robot. Be present in the moment of your mistake, and instead of feeling sorry for yourself or angry about how terrible you are, simply trace back the steps as to why you chose to give up your freedom. Was it stress from work? Did you forget to pack your food for the day? Did you forget your workout clothes? How can you do better tomorrow? The sun WILL come up in the morning and you will shine again.

4. Know, live and own up to your “WHY”

Before you have thrown down your cookies and join a gym, meditate on why you are making changes in the first place. Your why has to be felt in your heart and validated by your every action. It is the reason you are breaking out of your comfort zone and what you can fall back on in times of stress.

There will be times of stress that will test you of course. We live in times of high stress. Messages that are simple, messages that are inspiring, messages that are life-affirming, are a welcome break from our real lives. Make sure you know WHY you are doing what you do.

5. Surround yourself with people who support you

Positive energy yields positive energy. The only souls who get to share your private space outside of preexisting commitments are those who support and love you and your WHY. Avoid energy vampires, even if they have been in your life for years, or even still if they are family.

6. Focus on how you want to feel

The more you create the reality of how you want to feel, the more it will happen. Your deep limbic system and it's relationship to the prefrontal cortex can be trained for your happiness and goals just like you train a bicep with a curl. Focus on the outcome you desire and when adversity happens, fall back on your “why” and the pain you may have felt without the discipline that now guides you. You deserve to be what you want to be.

Now that you've poured the emotional concrete, here is how you build the paleo house.

“Self-discipline is a form of freedom. Freedom from laziness and lethargy, freedom from the expectations and demands of others, freedom from weakness and fear—and doubt. Self-discipline allows a soul to feel their individuality, their inner strength, their talent. They become a master of, rather than a slave to, their thoughts and emotions.” -H.Dorfman
